This is a story that Emma Thamer Richards sent me about her injury and her motivation to recover from it.
So this month marks the 10 month since my back + hip injury happen while doing a contortion twist and a scorpion. When I found out what I did it truly sucked being told you may never be able to do something again that you loved so much sucks! Being told you were close to breaking your back double sucks! I spent the next couple of months feeling like cardboard ha. Looking on the bright side I could still learn many new things may had taken me more time but I would at least try. Making this 10 month mark where I don't have pain every day all time or having to try and 'get over it'. yeah lets face it I did moan a lot. I will always be in pain if I train to hard I will always have to be careful but in 2 months time I will be cleared for doing whatever the hell I want which means I can do aerial training yaya that I didn't really get to do, start training hard again at my contortion. I'm kinda glad I had this injury made me realise how much I missed doing what I do! So yepp marks 10 months, so whatever happens with my audition at least I know I worked hard this year and I'm proud of myself for getting through it.

Emma told me that before her injury, she was not able to do these poses. But with the right physiotherapy and getting the help and strength she needed she is feeling stronger then before it happened. She says the right support and motivation helps her get through this. Her hopes is to finish off the year and audition for school. Or to take a year off to train before auditioning. Come summer, she should be cleared 100%, and after she hopes to see a chiropractor for the pain. Thank you Emma for the story and being an inspiration. Good luck! |
