Julianne Hough is professional ballroom dancer who is now the judge on the hit television show Dancing with the Stars. Prior to her judging stint on DWTS she was also a competitor, as she has been dancing since the age of 15 years old.
October 20008, Hough and her dance partner at the time Cody Linley were competing on the show. Hough started getting severe stomach cramps and was curled over in a ball most of the night. The producers were trying to convince her to go to the hospital.
She ended up at the hospital and had an ultrasound the following morning that revealed a large ovarian cyst and scar tissue. She underwent a laparoscopic procedure ended up taking nearly two hours as they removed the appendix, cysts and scar tissue that ended up on her bladder and fallopian tubes.
Following the procedure she was not allowed to dance for two weeks.
About her health scare, Hough admitted she did not want anyone to know about the Endometriosis. She thought since it was an unknown disease that she would get a lot of hassle, but in the end it turned out well as fans thanked her for coming out with the story.
One person she inspired was former Dancing with the Stars Competitor Lacy Schwimmer. She was having similar symptoms so she made an appointment with the doctor and was told she had the start of Endometriosis. She does not need the surgery.
"Abdominal cramps come and go. It's crazy to hear that's not normal! Now I know, and I'm going to do everything I need to to take care of this."
**side note** I knew I had Endometriosis after she came out with having it. Because of her I was able to push the doctors for a diagnosis.
